Hey! I’m Leah and thanks for stopping by The WanderLeaf

This blog is about my adventures around the world and how I can inspire you to live a life full of adventures. Here you’ll find stories, pictures, and tips to help you with your travel plans.

When I got my first passport only three years ago I had no idea the incredible journeys I would eventually embark on.

It was in high school that I decided I needed to travel. But I always made excuses — I was too young, too broke, or too busy to see the world. Finally, in 2015 I pushed myself to study abroad in Bangkok, Thailand. From that moment I knew I would never stop traveling no matter what life brought my way.

Since that big adventure I have visited 20 countries on 4 continents and I am always planning my next big adventure.

My hope is that with this blog I can inspire you to follow your dreams and never stop traveling.

A Timeline of my Adventures

January 2015 — I got my first passport and set off on a girls’ getaway to Mexico with my roommate and some friends. We based ourselves in Playa del Carmen and spent the week snorkeling with sea turtles, splashing in cenotes, and exploring mayan ruins.

September to December 2015 — I embarked on the biggest adventure of my life — studying abroad in Bangkok, Thailand. I got to travel on weekends to places like Chiang Mai, Krabi, Koh Chang, and Kanchanaburi. I also took long-weekend trips to Singapore and Taiwan.

Christmas of 2015 was the first one I have ever spent away from home.

January 2016 — I set off after my semester abroad and traveled solo in Bali, Thailand, and Malaysia.

March 2016 — With very limited funds, I set off on a 9-day trip to Italy to visit my best friend. We spent our time in Florence, Rome, Venice, Verona, and Cinque Terre.

I also got to spend a night in Germany on a layover and visit a German beer hall.

January 2017 — I traveled solo to Guatemala to practice my Spanish. I cruised the Rio Dulce, roasted Marshmallows on an active volcano, and spent a weekend without electricity on Lake Atitlan.

After Guatemala, I met up with a friend in Costa Rica. We split our time between San Jose and Manuel Antonio National Park.

March 2017 — My boyfriend and I set off on our first trip together. We got our caffeine buzz on in Seattle and our beer buzz on in Vancouver. We saw some flying fish at Pike Place, climbed The Chief, feared for our lives on some suspension bridges, and planned hundreds of future trips together.

November 2017 — I set off on a solo journey to Belize, working with some local hotel and tour companies to create promotional content. I swam with sharks, relaxed on a gorgeous island, and even visited an ancient Mayan burial ground hidden deep within a cave.

January to May 2018 — I decided to have one last abroad experience before graduating college. I spent a semester studying in Alcalá de Henares, Madrid and traveling Europe and northern Africa on the weekends. I visited France, Ireland, Denmark, Portugal, Italy, Hungary, and Morocco.

August 2018 — I convinced my dad to set off on a birthday road trip with me through Southern Utah. We explored Bryce Canyon National Park, Arches National Park, Canyonlands National Park, Goblin Valley State Park, and spent the night in a converted school bus at Mystic Hot Springs.
